The Russian Internet Forum-IV is planned to be organised by ROCIT in March 2000. The Forum will focus around the Internet as a new factor of the Russian economy. Traditionally, RIF-2000 will take place at a comfortable holiday hotel not far from Moscow. The Intel Corporation will once again become RIF-2000 General Sponsor, while the Open System publishing house will provide the information support.
In 1999, more than 170 participants and 220 major computer and telecommunication companies: Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Cisco Systems, Sovam Teleport, Nortel Networks, CompTek International, Infoart, Deutsche Telecom, IT, Sun Microsystems, Step Logic, State RF Duma, RosBusinessConsulting, Lucent Technologies, Combellga, CompTek International, DirectNet Telecommunications, MTU Inform, Hewlett Packard, I. Gubkin Oil & Gas University, WWF, and a lot more took part in the Forum.
RIF-2000 participants listened to 100 Reports presented organised in 5 plenary sessions and 13 Section meetings. Each Section meetings focused around the vital requirements of the Russian Internet.
Demos and Hewlett Packard threw in a joint project to support Russian-based ISPs, Gutabank and Avtobank announced their joint plans of organising a work group to promote the Digital Signature technologies in Russia.
RIF-Expo show of the latest Internet technologies was taken part in by 26 various companies. and took up to 250 sq. m floor space. . The equipment was based on wireless access technologies of Lucent, BreezeCom and Net-Service.

The Russian Internet Forum-IV is certainly an outstanding event in the Russian community. In the context of rapid technological progress, RIF is an indispensable business forum. It has provided a communication environment for the ISP and the potential customers for already four years. Here's a place to demonstrate new achievements, to find new partners and to estimate the competitors.
This year, the Internet users will be able to influence the process of choosing the RIF - 2000 subjects by taking part in online discussions on the above site. The Russian Internet Technologies Public Centre has presented another attempt to create conditions for the efficient interrelationship between the informational vendors and customers, to organise the independent consultations activity, and to fill in the gap between the snowball growth of the quality and quantity of the informational and network services and technologies provided via the global Internet portals, and their application by the local users.
